BAKE ME A CAKE
"Bake me a Cake" is a charming and playful table lamp made out of oak wood and smoked tinted glass. Simply lift up the glass to change the bulb.
The lamp portrays a dim light.
Bake me a cake is manufactured by the inmates in Bergen prison in Norway through a unique collaboration between the designers, Kriminalomsorgen region vest (the Norwegian correctional services) and Northern Lighting.
The goal is to create a high quality design production inside Norwegian prisons where we challenge the inmates’ ways of thinking and acting.
The project name stems from the classic story about “the cake with the file” from the cartoon world wherein mum adds a file into the cake she bakes for her imprisoned beloved son to help him escape.
The project aims to create meaningful activities for inmates, while still remaining behind bars.
